Few towns can boast such a strong and varied history as
Boerne. During spring, the annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off
and Heritage Gathering begin the year’s festivities, with
the Cibolo Wilderness Native Plant Sale not far behind.
The largest community of Kendall County, Boerne serves
as the county seat.

Citizens benefit greatly from a low tax rate, and full utility services
provided by the city owned systems. Civic life is only enhanced by a strong
commitment to preserving the many cultural, historic, and natural
influences and structures that make Boerne such a remarkable place.

Staying green both literally and figuratively.

Boerne was among the initiators in providing South Texans with curb side
recycling. The City has also enacted landscape ordinances, while defining a
downtown Historical District to preserve the architectural heritage. The
Cibolo Nature Center has successfully placed 700 acres of watershed land
under protection. In this area, you can hike along the creek’s banks and
witness the water drifting across age old stones shadowed by timeless
cypress trees.

Boerne, Texas provides great education.

In private and public education,
Boerne schools have enjoyed
wide acclaim and awards for
their scholastic and athletic
achievements. There are five
elementary schools, two middle
schools and two public high
schools, Boerne High, and
Boerne Samuel V. Champion
which opened in the fall of 2008.

Boerne High has been noted
nationwide for its excellent
Advanced Placement Program,
which has unusually high
participation and success rates
compared to similar schools in
the United States.

There’s plenty of shopping
and recreation.

City recreational facilities are
highlighted by the River Road
Park along the banks of the
Cibolo. Picnics and afternoon
fishing are enjoyed here, along
with the flocks of geese and ducks.
Boerne City Park has a swimming
pool, eight lighted tennis courts and
soccer fields, basketball goals and
sand volleyball.

If you’re big into fishing, the
Boerne City Lake is a must.
While the City Lake supplies
some of the drinking water and
flood control, 10 lb. large mouth
bass are not uncommon. Boerne
is an adventurer's paradise.

For shopping, enjoy the abundant
antique stores, specialty shops,
art galleries and extraordinary
restaurants along Main Street, or
drive a short distance to
San Antonio’s The Shops at
La Cantera, or The Rim.
